چکیده

Amiodarone, a bi-iodinated benzofuran derivative, is widely used for arrhythmias. Many patients benefit from the effectiveness of amiodarone in treating potentially life-threatening arrhythmias. However, amiodarone-induced pulmonary toxicity (APT) is a severe complication. Even after the discontinuation of amiodarone, not only is APT difficult to manage, but there is also a potentially life-threatening risk of recurrence of arrhythmias. In this case, we describe multiorgan complications secondary to amiodarone use, especially APT combined with pneumonia with atypical pathogens and pulmonary hemorrhage following procedures. Following treatment and stabilization, the patient experienced sudden cardiac death while recovering from pulmonary complications. Case

Amiodarone-induced pulmonary toxicity

Amiodarone-induced pulmonary toxicity is a critical and potentially fatal side effect of amiodarone. Our study was designed to reveal its clinical features, including KL-6, as an interstitial marker. The medical records of eight patients (five men and three women) with amiodarone-induced pulmonary toxicity, who had been referred to our hospital, were examined. The mean age at the initiation of ...

Predictive Success Factors for CT-Guided Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy of Pulmonary Lesions

OBJECTIVE Computed tomography-guided percutaneous fine needle aspiration biopsy of lung lesions is a simple, safe and reproducible procedure. Currently, it is widely used to diagnose lung lesions. However, different factors can influence the success rates of this procedure. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of radiological and procedural characteristics in predicting the ...

Ultrasound guided percutaneous cutting biopsy for the diagnosis of pulmonary consolidations of unknown aetiology.

BACKGROUND Ultrasound has been used to guide percutaneous aspiration biopsy of thoracic tumours with high diagnostic yield. This study assessed the diagnostic value of ultrasound guided percutaneous cutting biopsy for pulmonary consolidation of unknown aetiology. METHODS Thirty patients with undiagnosed lobar or segmental consolidation underwent ultrasound guided percutaneous needle aspiratio...

Predictors of False-Negative Results from Percutaneous Transthoracic Fine-Needle Aspiration Biopsy: An Observational Study from a Retrospective Cohort

PURPOSE We investigated factors predictive of false-negative pulmonary lesions with nonspecific benign cytology results on percutaneous transthoracic fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB). MATERIALS AND METHODS We included 222 pulmonary lesions that had a nonspecific benign result from percutaneous transthoracic FNAB between March 2005 and December 2012, and were confirmed by subsequent pathol...
